Pep Toni Ferrer
Pep Toni Ferrer was born in Palma in 1968. His first contact with the world of crafts was when he contemplated his grandfather from Puigpunyent making cord from palmito to weave the traditional chairs form the island. He also made baskets for the almonds and wood for the fires in winter.
At 15, Pep Toni started making his first pieces and was able to make his first chair. Later he married Magdalena from Establiments, near Artà, a place known for this tradition. The journey of extracting the fiber began through her knowledge and tradition.
Pep is a well know teacher and artist with the goal of preserving this craft and tradition from the Island.
