XTANT 2024 seeked to examine roots. 

Far from looking fondly at the past as an isolated article. The examination it undertook was to understand ‘roots’ for what they truly are. 

Not origins, but continuous parts of a living organism. 

Being not just the past, but the past through the present. Understanding that, with or despite all wondrous or regrettable developments in history, the present moment is in fact also part of our cultural heritage. 

Seeking not a synthesis, but a unity of everything that a culture is and was. Simultaneously. 

And with the ends, but perhaps also the means, of coming to a closer wholistic understanding of ourselves as both ‘everything’ and ‘forever’. 

This unity, bringing forth a new form of artisanry and organization held together by a global yet firmly rooted community.

Our fifth edition was celebrated from 9-13 of May in Palma de Mallorca across various heritage locations. Palacio Can Vivot once again hosted our gallery /Meet the makers market, meanwhile Es Baluard Museu d'Art Contemporani de Palma was home to installations and workshops held by our invited masters and artisans. Additionally a six month exhibition curated by XTANT was hosted at the iconic 13th century tower, Torre de Canyamel.
