XTANT 2024 seeked to examine roots.
Far from looking fondly at the past as some ideal isolated article, the exercise was to understand ‘roots’ or ‘history’ for what they truly are.
Not just origins, but continuous parts of a living organism.
Looking at the past within the present and understanding that, with or despite all wonderful or regrettable developments in history, the present moment is itself also part of our cultural heritage.
Our fifth edition was celebrated from 9-13 of May in Palma de Mallorca across various heritage locations. Palacio Can Vivot once again hosted our gallery Meet the makers market, meanwhile Es Baluard Museu d'Art Contemporani de Palma was home to installations and workshops held by our invited masters and artisans. Additionally a six month exhibition curated by XTANT was hosted at the iconic 13th century tower, Torre de Canyamel.
