Patricia Uriarte - SPAIN

“Patricia Uriarte was born in 1999 and spent her childhood between Tenerife and the Basque Country. She discovered embroidery while studying fashion design and made it into her main form of expression. Once she finished her primary studies she had the opportunity to further specialise in Haute coture embroidery at the famed Ecole lesage in Paris. After two years, deciding that it was high time for her to return home, she booked a flight straight back to the island. “I felt disconnected and was anxious to create something rooted.”

Once in Tenerife, she began to collaborate with Mía (@mia.moda.regenerativa) creating pieces inspired by her Canarian heritage. “We immediately connected as soon as we worked together.” In parallel she was developing a new project called Ajuar. “It is still to early to say, but it would be a home centred on creativity and embroidery, inspired in the history of the technique and its connection to women. Despite starting to work in embroidery for being a beautiful craft, I stayed with embroidery for its conceptual weight.”
