Mohammed Anas Sheikh - INDIA

Anas Sheikh is a practising textile artist and founder of the clothing label 23°N.69°E. He graduated with a B.A. (Hons.) in Fashion Design from the Indian Institute of Art & Design (IIAD), New Delhi in 2020. His interest and engagement with the craftsmanship of Ajrakh block prints ignited during his internship with the artisans in Kachchh, Gujarat which deeply influenced his working style and sensibility. He believes any real undertaking in the domain of textiles should involve hands-on expertise with an awareness of the socio-cultural context of the crafts and artisans. Every year, Anas spends a major part of his time in Ajrakhpur village in Kachchh district experimenting along with the artisans in their natural environment. As a young practising designer, he believes that knowledge comes with the responsibility to preserve as well as showcase the beautiful crafts and textiles from India to the world with an evolved and future- oriented approach. He aims to continue this practice with artisans as well as gradually bring more crafts under the ambit of 23°N.69°E in the long term.
