Sanja Lulei - GERMANY

“Sanja Lulei is a Düsseldorf-based textile designer and contemporary weaver, who establishes a connection between art, design, crafts, and functionality, with a strong focus on people’s well-being. Her artistic work pushes the boundaries of traditional weaving, guided by intuition and a deep passion for exploration. Sanja’s weaving practice is characterized by the manipulation of textile surfaces, where she redefines the relationship between light, colour, and texture, while creating three-dimensional forms from flat, folded, or tubular weaves.

In a rapidly changing world and time of over-consumption, her work invites viewers to slow down, encouraging a deeper awareness and perception through the art of hand-weaving. The creative use of textiles, play of senses, and impact of light make her creations a captivating and enriching complement to contemporary architecture and design.

Sanja’s experimental approach has been showcased in exhibitions across Europe and Asia, including Vienna, Salzburg, Budapest, Paris, Copenhagen, London, Venice and South Korea, earning her the European Textile & Craft Award, the Isola Design Award and the Design Prize of the City of Linz for her creative contributions.”
