IKENO LAMU - KENYA
“With a selection of cotton fabrics hand loomed and block printed in India and Kenya, our garments are designed and made by a small team on the Island of Lamu, Kenya. Every aspect of Ikeno is easily inspired by the neutral tones, textures and the architecture of Lamu, creating a menswear collection that is suited to the equatorial heat and classic simplicity of the island.
A collection of fabric is handwoven in Kenya by Siafu Home, while another is hand block printed and woven in India. These textiles are then tailored by our two tailors on the island itself, realizing the pieces for sale at our store.
Ikeno collections are vividly photographed by the talented Kenyan creative team, 199x, with models from the island. Campaigns are typically produced once a year, capturing the collections in and amongst the ideal backdrops of the island and Shela Village.
Having grown up on the island of Lamu since I was four, I’ve been deeply inspired by its beauty and culture, which has shaped the brand from the very beginning. The island’s rich heritage, vibrant community, and unique surroundings are woven into every aspect of Ikeno.”
