Barbara Munsel - THE NETHERLANDS

Barbara Munsel trained at the Royal Academy of Arts is a textile artist, researcher and designer known for her multidisciplinary approach and poetic aesthetic.

The appeal of her design lies in the subtlety of the texture, a timeless aesthetic and materials of lasting quality, not influenced by seasons or trends.

With her designs she would like to provide a coherent philosophy of life that weaves together simplicity of material life, thought, and spirit.

Through her artistic practice she wants to show the intimate connections between the inner and outer world, soil, soul and society, beauty, joy and non-violence. It indicates that solutions to the big problems of our time — climate change, hate and violence, hopelessness, and despair — lie in thinking and living with natural simplicity, reducing our ecological footprint while enlarging our hearts and minds.

Barbara believes in the spiritual aspect of art, crafts and design. When garments are created in a serene, harmonious and balanced way, the outer-garments can absorb the flow of positive energy from the atmosphere to the maximum extent and then they can transmit it into the body.

She exhibits in galleries and museums in Kyoto, Paris, Antwerp, Portugal, Germany and numerous art exhibitions in the Netherlands.
