Viji Reddy-India

Viji Reddy grew up in Hyderabad, India, and from a very young age was drawn to the creative sphere.

At the prestigious MS University in Baroda, Viji honed her skills under the tutelage of India's modern masters. Moving to New York City, she continued her formal studies in painting and ceramics. Immersed in the vibrant art scene and inspiring environment in New York, Viji's signature abstract style, incorporating clay, mixed media, and painting, began to take shape.

Viji's artistic journey was always interwoven with a deep appreciation for textiles. Growing up in India, she was surrounded by the country's rich handloom heritage of silk, cotton, linen, and wool. Her family's interest in art, architecture, vintage textiles, and antique furniture further nurtured this passion.

Eventually, while designing her dream home in Florida and sourcing exquisite vintage pieces for this project, Viji recognized a gap in the market for home textiles that matched her vision. This realization sparked the creation of Alamwar Textiles, named after her family. The brand, now co-managed with her sister Archi, has evolved from offering high-end home fabrics to a luxurious artisanal fashion collection as well.

Alamwar Textiles serves as a platform for skilled artisans who create beautiful handmade textiles. Their exquisite pieces are carried in discerning showrooms and boutiques across the United States and India.

Viji's design expertise extends beyond textiles. As a skilled interior designer, she has successfully completed numerous projects for clients in both the US and India. Her passion extends to promoting sustainable practices within the design industry. Viji, the founder and design director of Alamwar, now offers consulting services to companies seeking to create their own sustainable and ethically-sourced product lines.
