In Mexico, his name is well respected and synonymous with quality textiles, the appreciation of local cultures and preservation of tradition. His shops ¨Los Baúles de Juana Cata in Oaxaca, San Miguel de Allende and the center of the Federal District, have real treasures that could well be in any textile museum in the world. His collection consists of limited editions of rebozos, huipiles, joropos, blusas, quechquemitles, enredos… all made thanks to the rescue of materials and dye stuffs in extinction such as indigo, Coyuchi cotton, the Caracol Purpura Pansa, Coconut, Cochineal and weaving techniques such as the waist loom, among many others. Remigio travels all over Mexico to remote places like Laguna Chicahuaxtala where he works with Luisa Jiménez Cubas and the women she leads or San Bartolo Yautepec with Nicolasa Pascual. His main focus is the coast of Oaxaca, where Remigio works with more than 350 artisans with a long-term vision and a commitment to train the new generations.
