Rocio Lozano - SPAIN
Rocio leads a traditional embroidery atelier from Lagartera, Toledo. Lagartera embroidery is characterized by the use of geometric motifs inspired by Moorish art from the sixteen century, the original designs being purely ornamental. The women of Lagartera used to meet in groups to embroider to make their own dresses and house linen, and it is still the custom for brides to have a dowry of this work.
Rocio is the third generation dedicated to this craft. She is a proud keeper of the tradition of Lagartera all made by hand using needle and thread to embroider on linen and cotton to make the finest bedding and table wear.
