Angela Damman - MEXICO
Formed in 2012, Angela Damman is a mexican sustainable luxury brand dedicated to the production of textiles, luxury products and limited edition works handcrafted with native plants and through the ancient and artisanal traditions of the Yucatán Peninsula
The project operates through fully regenerative processes, from harvesting and defibering plants such as henequen agave and sansevieria, to the assembly of the final product.
The project’s efforts not only connect centuries-old knowledge with contemporary design, but help to stimulate local economic development.
The Brand’s work is produced at its Yucatan based studio and in several neighbouring villages.
Apart from the previously mentioned self cultivated materials used in her work, Angela has extended her efforts to incorporate other fibres, including espadin agave extracted in a project-collaboration with Trine Ellitsgaard and Hermano Maguey.
Having been through dozens of showcases and exhibitions, including, but not limited to the Popular arts Museum, Foundation of Artists, the University museum of Contemporary Art, the Franz Mayer museum, Zona Maco, London Craft Week, Design Miami, Paris Design Week, Objet D’Art and Le Tri Postal..
In addition to featuring in the publications Vogue, Architectural Digest Mexico and US, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, Monocle, Departures and L’Officiel Mexico among others. Angela Damman’s work has gained a truly international audience
