Under the guidance of artists Emma Cassi and Margarita Lozano, participants will be invited to a creative and fun journey into the world of upcycling using appliqué embroidery. Emma and Margarita will share stories of their textile journey, showcasing a collection of unique vintage clothes with applique for inspiration. This workshop is about finding joy in customising secondhand clothes and creating beautiful items that reflect their personal style.

Emma and Margarita will share their creative journey and experience with textiles for the past 30 years through stories and a display of customised vintage clothes. These beautiful pieces will serve as inspiration as you explore and create your own garment.

Materials: all the materials will be provided such as vintage French linen, natural dyed silk; dyed with mud, spices like curcuma, vegetables: avocado, cabbage.etc., vintage threads, different size needles, scissors, beads.

Final Project: your own piece of upcycled clothing.

Emma Cassi, an embroiderer from France blends traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics in her textile art. With a background in jewelry design and interior styling, she adopts an intuitive process, allowing her creations to organically evolve. Inspired by nature and ancient crafts, she employs various techniques to transform recycled materials into textile artworks paying homage to nature's endless tapestry.

Margarita Lozano

Margarita Lozano's art reflects her lifelong dedication to exploring nature and the human experience within Colombia's vibrant artistic milieu. After working in architecture and running a handmade clothing brand, her work has evolved from meticulous depictions to a more spontaneous, emotional style. Margarita's work, resonating with both historical richness and contemporary relevance, continues to contribute to Colombia's artistic legacy.
